During quarantine, like many others, Kaneisha found herself reaching for comfort through candles. Lighting them became a small act of peace in uncertain times. But that comfort didn’t last. Due to scent sensitivities, she couldn’t enjoy her candles for long periods of time. Wanting to understand why, she began researching what was behind the irritation.

She discovered that many of the brands she once loved were using paraffin wax and harsh chemicals to produce a strong scent when burned. While effective, these ingredients often come with a cost to air quality and personal wellness. As someone who values clean living and creativity, Kaneisha knew she could do better.

Tapping into her love for DIY projects, she began making her own candles using 100% coconut soy wax and clean fragrance oils. After many trials, plenty of learning, and a few wax-covered mishaps, Afterglo Candle Co. was born.

The name Afterglo carries deep meaning. It was inspired by Kaneisha’s late aunt Gloria, lovingly called “Glo.” The word afterglow means “a soft light that remains after the sun has set or an event has passed.” That definition perfectly reflects how Kaneisha remembers her aunt. Though Glo is no longer physically present, her bright personality and genuine warmth continue to shine through.

Every Afterglo candle is hand-poured with care using pure soy wax and no additives. This allows for a clean, safe burn that fills your space with lasting fragrance. The scent becomes more than a smell, it becomes a memory, a feeling, a gentle reminder of warmth that stays long after the flame goes out.
